Feral Animal Trapping Dates: August 31 - September 3
UC Berkeley is required by US Fish and Wildlife Service to perform a feral animal trapping program as a condition of the permit obtained for the remediation work being done in Western Stege Marsh. Live trapping of feral animals (skunks, red fox, raccoons, rats and cats) is being done to protect the endangered California Clapper Rail that lives in the Marsh. This is a five year program with approximately 30 trapping days a year.
Prior to a trapping event, a notice will be posted to notify the surrounding neighbors of the dates. Please pass this information on to your neighbors who have pets. Pets should not be allowed off-leash in the Meeker Slough area. Please make sure your pets have identification tags or an ID chip.
If you would like more information, contact Anna Moore (510-231-9584, amorel@berkeley.edu). UC Berkeley has prepared a brochure on the Richmond Field Station Western Stege Marsh Restoration program that is available.
